Carnarvon Gorgeous

Lying in bed with viral pneumonia for several weeks, Verandah Magazine publisher Candida Baker’s mind wandered to some of her favourite places.  “Looking

at the four walls of my bedroom for days on end prompted my brain to take off on some amazing astral travel,” she says.  “One of the most amazing places I’ve ever visited in Australia is Carnarvon Gorge, with its extraordinary indigenous cave art, giant palms and ferns, river-bed and walks.  I thought of this view, with its blue, blue sky, and it was comforting to think of all the landscapes I’ve seen still out there.”
