Kangaroo in quiet contemplation

Kangaroo

Lennox Head based photographer Heidi Flumm took this wonderful photo of an Eastern Grey while she was on what she says was: “an intrepid nature watching expedition with my family…something my father’s insisted upon doing with us since my brother and I could barely walk.  Needless to say it’s instilled a great love of nature in me.”  This beautiful contemplative shot is one of Flumm’s personal favourites.  “I’d arrived from the UK in 2008 and I took this photo a few years later, so it was still a novelty to be photographing kangaroos in the wild, but also I love the colours and the contemplative look of the kangaroo in the front.  His companion is looking directly at the camera but is obscured by the shallow depth of field, which I think it more interesting as an image.  To me the warm, sandy colour of the bush, with the animals within, is evocative of a beautiful aspect of the Australian environment.”

Heidi Flumm shot the photo on a Canon EOS 7D, with a Tamron lens, 70-300 on f/7.1 at 1,200
