Lisa Black’s Sydney exhibition at Anne Schofield’s Woollahra gallery features gemstones sourced from Lisa’s latest travels to India.

If you happen to be in Sydney over the next 10 days, local jewellery designer Lisa Hochhauser is having a sale and exhibition of her Lisa Black label contemporary jewellery at Anne Schofield’s Woollahra gallery.

Lisa studied Fine Art at the National Art school Sydney and Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design at the State University of New York. She began creating her signature pieces of unique hand crafted jewellery in 2005, earning international recognition through associations with the Museum of Arts and Design, New York, Bergdorf Goodman (New York) and Saks Fifth Avenue (San Francisco).

Inspired by ancient and tribal traditions, this current collection features pieces set with beads such as lapis lazuli and turquoise from ancient civilizations including Egypt, Mesopotamia and Indonesia.  “I love to travel,” says Lisa, “and I’m lucky because through my travels I’ve been able to source some really rare gemstones.”  Many of Lisa’s gemstones for this collection were sourced from Jaipur, India, including black, pink and blue diamonds, pink sapphires, smoky star sapphires and star rubies for her necklaces. Her earrings feature red coral, chalcedony and sardonyx druze (the base layer of gemstone crystal) and her horn bracelets and rings are studded with gems and pearls, all enhanced by 22ct gold details.
